Cairo's patron of budding independent musicians is taking Paris by storm on September 17, promising Parisians an exhilarating set of some of our greatest electro-shaabi acts.

Dead set on global domination is none other than 100Copies, Egypt's leading record label for independent artists. After successful shows in London, 100Copies are looking to bring their unique brand of electro-shaabi to Paris.

By this point in time 100Copies should need no introduction. Founded by Mahmoud Refaat, 100Copies has established quite the reputation of being Egypt's leading incubator for a variety of original Egyptian artists.

On September 19, 100Copies will be in Paris putting on a jam-packed show entitled Arabic Sound System in Cairo, which will feature live performances by Sadat & Alaa 50, POV alias Joakim & Krikor, and Aisha Devi. Filling out the night are DJ sets by Gilb'r, The Maghreban, Qabbalah, The Arabstazy collective, as well as the Mawimbi DJ crew. Also on tab will be Hind Meddeb's amazing documentary, Electro Shaabi, about the rise of the electro-shaabi phenomenon in Egyptian society.

The night is sure to be memorable, as 100Copies won't be the only record label presenting music. Co-presenting the evening is Craki Records, who will be showcasing Luca Eminenti, while Tealer Gang will feature Vanderkush and Un Deux.

How one night could pack so much entertainment is beyond us and has us feeling quite envious of Parisians. At the affordable price of 20 Euros, the Institut du Monde Arabe will definitely be a cultural exchange worth going to.
