31% of Egyptian Parents Lie About Having Commitments so They Can Netflix

Netflix Middle East surveyed parents in the region, and the results are surprisingly amusing.

There aren't many things as confusing in life as being an Egyptian millennial parent. While seeing your babies slowly grow into small humans might be the most rewarding feeling of all, you also can't let go of the inner you that just wants to sit back, relax, and binge-watch your favourite show for hours on end.

In a new survey by Netflix Middle East, it was revealed that as much as two thirds of parents in the region stated they have lost an average of 3 to 6 hours of their 'me time' after having a child, making a big chunk of them resort to a myriad of tricks to sneak in an episode or two of their favourite show in the midst of their hectic daily routines.Pretending to be sick and lying about a commitment are just the tip of the iceberg of the measures parents would go to that end, with the latter being the most frequently used excuse among Egyptian parents, at 31 percent. They don't stop there; 20 percent of parents admit they would sit idly in the car to catch a much-needed Netflix treat and 17 percent simply stay longer in the bathroom to sneak an episode as they do their 'business', talk about dropping an anchor. How are they to be blamed though? With epic shows like Love, The Good Wife, and Sherlock being the most watched shows by Egyptian parents, it comes as no surprise they would do whatever they need do to get their Netflix fix. How I Met Your Mother remains popular in Egypt as it snags the 4th spot, followed by The Office and The Last Kingdom. So if you find yourself maneuvering your schedule to steal some uninterrupted "me time" with Netflix, don't be alarmed; you are anything but alone. It might be a good idea though to hold off from sharing that information in your next Parent of The Year speech. That is, of course, if you actually manage to make it there what with all those 'errands'.
