Mohamed Bakr Displays ‘50 Years of Cinematic Portraits’ at Photopia

When it comes to the Golden Age of Egyptian cinema, one man captured some of the most important scenes behind the industry’s most iconic films through the lens of his camera. Considered one of the most prominent movie set photographers in Egypt, Mohamed Bakr has been documenting Egypt’s brightest stars behind the scenes since the 1950s.

In honour of his legacy, Photopia - a Cairo-based photography school and studio - is set to host an exhibition titled ‘50 Years of Cinematic Portraits’ featuring work by Mohamed Bakr. As part of Cairo Design Week in Heliopolis, the exhibition celebrates Bakr's contribution to Egyptian cinema, showcasing his archival portraits of more than 600 films spanning half a century.

Attendees will have the opportunity to delve into an exclusive collection of Bakr's work, add some of his pieces to their personal collections, and even meet the prolific photographer himself. The exhibition will open on February 25th at 6 PM.
