Will Draw for Money?

No need to starve anymore, artists of Egypt! The British Council is here and wants to give YOU a grant...

Staff Writer

Starving artists of Egypt rejoice; at last, money is at hand. Those nice chaps at the British Council are offering cash to creative types across Cairo as part of their imaginatively titled the Grants for Artists' scheme. The focus of the grants is on work that engages with the wider community in Egypt. We're reliably informed that the 'wider community' means anybody without a tradition of engaging with arts and cultural activity, particularly those with disabilities. And the money itself? Up to LE23,000.

The only stipulation is that entrants must be Egyptian citizens currently practising in one of the following art forms: music, film, theatre, literature, dance, visual arts and design.
