8 Prominent Speakers Not to Miss at RiseUp Summit 2018

From the nation's most powerful storytellers to CEOs of the world's biggest corporations, these are 8 speakers you definitely can't miss at #RiseUp18

RiseUp 2018 Speakers

Now in its sixth year, the Middle East's biggest entrepreneurial summit is shaping up to be the most impactful yet. Taking over Downtown Cairo's Greek Campus between the 7th and 9th of December, 2018, RiseUp is bigger than ever: more than 250 speakers are ready to inspire and some 5000 entrepreneurs, investors and industry figures are expected to be flooding the capital's startup hub.

With tens of plethora of inspiring and insightful talks, panels, fireside chats, workshops, pitch sessions and countless surprises across three different tracks (Capital, Creative and Tech) navigating RiseUp's extensive agenda requires planning of the highest order - which is why we've chosen eight speakers you don't want to miss!

HE Rania Al Mashat // Egypt's Ministry of Tourism

Egypt’s Minister of Tourism, HE Rania Al Mashat, will be taking to the Capital stage on the main Greek Campus to share her inspiring success story and how she - in keeping with the event's theme - aims high yet stays grounded.

Bart Van De Vel // Facebook

Bart Van De Vel has a job you most probably didn’t know existed – he’s Head of Beauty & Luxury at Facebook in the Middle East and Africa. What that means is that the Belgian travels around both regions forging relationships with personal care and luxury brands – so he knows a thing or two about how to get the best out of the world’s largest social media platform.

Jason Pau // Alibaba Group

Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman at Alibaba Group, Jason Pau, comes to the Rise Up with plenty of pedigree. As a key figure at the Chinese e-commerce giant, he has also worked heavily in strategic consulting and business development in both the private and public sector, giving him a unique view of the digital retail ecosystem.

Jason Pau // Day 3 // Capital Stage // 3:10 pm

Brooks Entwistle // Uber International

Serving as Chief Business Officer at Uber International, working across Asia Pacific, EMEA and Latin America, Brooks Entwistle is responsible for forging key relationships for the global ride-hailing app across those regions. A serial entrepreneur who's an active member of Egypt’s startup ecosystem, Khaled Bichara is CEO of Orascom Development Holding as well as co-founder of Endeavor Egypt, a non-profit development organisation that finds and supports high-impact entrepreneurs. But that's not all - this mogul is also one of the partners in VC firm A15, who just completed the region's first Dragon exit (that's a company which returns its whole fund) so trust us when we say his are pearls of wisdom you'll want to clutch close to your little entrepreneurial heart.

Khaled Bichara // Day 2 // Capital Stage // 3 pm

Research Professor and Director of the Center for Remote Sensing at Boston University, Egyptian-American space scientist Farouk El Baz is best known for working with NASA in the scientific exploration of the moon, selecting landing sites for the Apollo missions and training astronauts for lunar observations.
