Thankfully, no causalities were incurred in today's attack on two electricity switches in east Cairo.

Earlier today militant groups targeted two electricity switches in the east district of Nasr City. Improvised Explosive Devices were planted on Youssef Abbas Street with the intent of cutting off electricity in the area and possibly targeting the Ministry of Manpower.

Witnesses reported seeing a car stop at the junction between Youssef Abbas St. and Salah Salem St. where three people got out the car to dump a garbage bag shortly before the explosion took place.

Security forces and a bomb squad are now circling the area of Nasr City for more explosives and a security barricade has been set around the site of the explosion.

No harm or fatalities were caused to any inhabitants of the area as a result of the incident.

Since the ousting of Ex-President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 bombs have become a common occurrence in Cairo and other areas in Egypt, most recently targeting electricity towers and power infrastructures, alongside the recent attacks on military and security forces in North Sinai by extremist militant groups.

In light of the aforementioned circumstances, power grids across the country are now being secured by armed forces.
