A police officer is facing court charges following a brutal sex assualt on a disabled teenage girl last month. The sickening incident is said to have taken place when an officer took the girl - who suffers from a “psychological disorder” -  to an area of the station where no cameras were present.

A 40-year-old policeman has been referred to the Giza Criminal Court after other detainees witnessed the assault and the girl was able to identify the man from a line-up.

The incident occurred on 27th August in the Imbaba police station and police have now referred the case to the prosecution for further investigation. The officer's detention was renewed for 15 days on 1st September.
