Disgruntled EgyptAir pilots started a slowdown four days ago to put pressure on the company’s management to increase their salaries, a move that resulted in the delay of 40 flights over the span of the four days, as per Al Masry Al Youm.

A slowdown is the action of performing one’s task inefficiently to put pressure on management while avoiding being replaced or denied payment, consequences that usually accompany a strike.

The situation has been resolved today, a source within EgyptAir told Al Masry Al Youm, saying that the company has resumed all domestic and international flights.

EgyptAir management and pilots’ representatives reached an agreement stipulating a 40 percent increase in wages, which will take place over two stages – a 22 percent increase starting next July followed by 18 percent starting July 2017.

The source also added that a 15 percent wage increase is to take effect by the next fiscal year, which will benefit all EgyptAir Holding Company’s employees, as well as its subsidiaries.
