In a heartwarming gesture, an Egyptian airport employee returned a bag to authorities containing what would amount to $44,780, in addition to gold jewellery, at Sohag International Airport, according to Cairo Post.

The money-and-gold-laden bag was found by Sayed Mohamed Ahmed, who was working at passenger services, managing trolleys, at the arrivals parking lot of the airport. Upon finding the bag, Ahmed returned it to the port authorities, after which the bag was returned to its owner, according to the same source.

Ahmed refused a reward from the owner of the bag for his random act of kindness after the owner found out about what happened, according to Mubashir Magazine.

Ahmed was also presented with an award certificate by the manager of the airport, pilot Ahmad So’ad, according to Banat News. Deputy Director Magdy Abdul Aziz thanked the employee after hosting him in his office. Ahmad Fouad, Public Relations Manager at the airport, stated that there will be celebration in honour of Ahmed who is “a source of pride for all honest Egyptians and an example to abide by.”
