Definitely not part of the in-air entertainment was an all out brawl that broke out on an Egypt Air flight destined for Saudi Arabia carrying three Egyptian ministers, forcing the plane to return to Cairo.

Breaking the news this morning was Al Youm Al Sabaa, who allege that the scuffle aboard the flight began with an argument between three Saudi passengers and the Egypt Air cabin crew. According to Al Youm Al Sabaa quoting an unnamed security source in Cairo, “The argument developed into a scuffle, forcing the pilot to return to Cairo.”

On board the flight en route for Riyadh were three Egyptian ministers including the Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, Minister of Housing Mustafa Madbouli, and Minister of Education Hilali Al Sharbini.

Thankfully no serious injuries were reported and the ministers weren’t involved, but the fight was serious enough for the pilot to take the decision to return to Cairo. Upon arrival at Cairo Airport, Al Youm Al Sabaa alleged that the three Saudi passengers that disrupted the flight were immediately detained for questioning.

At this time it is unclear what the argument that led to the fight was actually about, and if charges will be laid against the Saudi nationals.
