John Kerry Slams Israel in Microphone Blunder

US Secretary of State John Kerry was left red-faced after he was caught out criticising Israeli when he thought his microphone was off air. Kerry was speaking to an aide while preparing for an interview for an interview on Fox News Channel.

In a sarcastic quip Kerry told the caller:“It’s a hell of a pinpoint operation. It’s a hell of a pinpoint operation."

"Right. It’s escalating really significantly and it just underscores the need for a ceasefire,” the aide said.

“We’ve got to get over there,” Mr. Kerry said, hanging up and handing a cell phone to someone off screen.

“I think, John, we ought to go tonight. I think it’s crazy to be sitting around,” the aide replied.

Unbeknownst to the former US Presidential hopeful, his microphone was already switched on leading to an awkward interview on the right-wing channel's Sunday morning show.

Speaking about the gaffe he told reporters: "I reacted obviously in a way that you know, anybody does with respect to young children and civilians. But war is tough.”

Kerry is due to arrive in the Middle East in a desperate effort to solve the crisis over the coming days. Watch the cringeworthy gaffe here.
