Mamdouh Abdel Alim Dies After Heart Attack in Gym

Famed Egyptian actor Mamdouh Abdel Alim passed away last night of a heart attack suffered while training at the gym.

Prominent Egyptian actor Mamdouh Abdel Alim passed away last night - January 5th, 2016. The cause of his death is believed to be a heart attack, which he suffered while at the Gezira Sports Club. The actor died en route to a private hospital in Zamalek. Ashraf Zaki, Head of the Actors' Syndicate, broke the news on CBC talk show Hona Al Assema, reports Daily News Egypt.   

Born on November 10th 1956, Abdel Alim appeared in Nour El Demerdash’s television series Virgin Paradise (Gannat Al 3azra2) as a child, but his big television break came in 1980 when he landed a role in Assila opposite Kareema Mokhtar. The movie adaptation of Ihsan AbdulQuddous’ novel, The Virgin and the White Hair (El 3azra2 W El Sha3r El Abyad), was his film debuting in 1983.

The actor is survived by his wife, television show host Shafky AlMouneery.
