Saudi Police Arrests Two People for Organising a Dog Pageant

Two men have been arrested in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for attempting to organise a beauty contest for dogs during the city’s Eid Al Fitr celebrations, reports Sabq.

Sources told the newspaper the police acted upon an order from municipal authorities after the accused announced the event on social media, adding that the investigators were able to identify and detain the suspects a few hours after the authorities’ directive. The two are currently being interrogated.    

According to a statement released by Jeddah’s municipal authorities, it denied any connection with the dog beauty pageant saying it wasn’t among its planned Eid celebrations and that it strictly prohibits such events.
