Thanwiyya Amma Success Rate is 3.7% Less Than Last Year

The controversy surrounding this year’s secondary education (Thanawiyya Amma) final exams seems to have had a big impact on results. The county’s Minister of Education just announced a success rate of 75.7 per cent as opposed to 79.4 per cent last year, according to Aswat Masriya.

Similarly, out of 560,583 high school students who sat for the final Thanawiyya Amma, none got the perfect score as opposed to 6 last year. However, 15.88 per cent scored in the 95 – 100 range and 18.07 per cent scored in the 90 – 95 range.

Minister El Helaly El Sherbiny revealed that success rate among girls is 76.6 per cent, surpassing that of boys by 2.4%.

Thanaweya Amma final exams are usually accompanied by nationwide media attention, but this year was exceptionally intense due to the leakage of exam questions and answers on a Facebook page, the manager of which was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 20,000 EGP earlier this month.
