3alganoob Festival

A little birdy told us about a paradisiacal festival in Marsa Alam, and naturally, we heard the words beach and festival together in a sentence and our curiosity was officially piqued, as it is by all things which involve large bodies of water we can swim in, music, and also, just in case you’re wondering, any kind of intoxicating substances, but that's neither here nor there. The festival, called 3alganoob, which takes place in a bay called Tondoba, 14 km south of Marsa Alam, basically consists of three days packed with the best stuff on earth (we stole that from Snapple by the way). It will feature some of the biggest independent bands in Egypt for three days of musical chilling, as well as yoga workouts, diving, snorkeling for the sad losers who can’t dive (and then below those sad losers there’s us, who just balbat), and then kite surfing, beach volleyball and football for those physically fit humans and stuff.

Out of all the above activities, all of which sound equally awesome, in actuality we’ll likely be leaving them to the humans there who have any energy, while we sip on sangrias with our asses firmly planted in the sand. Though in theory, we’d love to partake in this morning yoga ritual, cleanse our body and spirit and all that good stuff, in reality there’s no way in hell we’re either waking up for this alleged yoga or exerting any physical effort in the duration of this trip. Although we do look forward to enviously observing the fit limber people take part in some beachside yoga.

There will also be a drum circle, which sounds terrifically I’m-friends-with-all-the-flowers-and-the-birds hippie-ish, perhaps a little too much for us, but we will enjoy a healthy amount of mockery of the people who actually do it. The trip will also feature possibly the coolest beach cleanup in the history of beach cleanups that we know absolutely nothing about, where 3alganoob will be working with Darb 1718 to clean up the beaches, with your help obviously. Again, we leave these types of things to people who are just better humans than us, but we have immense preemptive pride for them for doing it. Good job guys! The festival will also feature some cool excursions from visiting mangrove trees to shredding it on quad bikes, so we’re certainly excited!
