BBC Mini-Series with Tom Hiddleston & Hugh Laurie to Be Filmed in Egypt
We speak to Egyptian producer Mostafa Faramawy about the British TV series that will be partly shot in Egypt.

A British mini-series titled The Night Manager is currently in pre-production in Cairo, directed by Susanne Bier and starring Thor's Tom Hiddleston, Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, Elizabeth Debicki and Dr. House himself, Hugh Laurie. The series will be in six parts and is set to release on AMC and BBC sometime in 2016. We met with Egyptian producer Mostafa Faramawy to find out more about the show being shot right here in Egypt soon.
The show is about a night manager of a European hotel who gets recruited by intelligence agents to infiltrate an international arms dealer's network. It’s not very often that we get foreign productions in Egypt and that’s mainly because “the paper work! It takes ages to finish a single permit, everyone is so suspicious when it comes to foreign films. From censorship that bans a lot of potential shoots, to 'security reasons' that deny us permission to shoot," says Faramawy. "We get a minimum of five or six potential big international shoot offers a month, and we can’t do it because of the paper work. In Morocco it takes five hours to approve the shoots, while it takes 21 days to approve in Egypt."
Though little has been released on the details of the mini-series, what we do know for sure are that the Egypt scenes will be shot in downtown Cairo, around the Pyramids and 6th October City.
