Bellydancer Set to Squash Morsi

Controversial belly dancer Sama El-Masry is gearing up to run in the upcoming Parliamentary elections at the former president's home governorate.

Controversial Egyptian belly dancer Sama El-Masry announced on Wednseday she will run in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Mohamed Morsi’s home district. The curvy canditate is set to stand in the Sharquiyah governorate an effort to humiliate the Muslim Brotherhood. She said: “I will run the elections and I will hopefully win them so I can show the Brotherhood every day who they really are.” And El-Masry also claimed she is about to bring about the end of the former ruling party on her new TV show Ayouh Ba2a. She said: “The end of their group will be on my hands, my program will uncover all the traitors and agents,”

Here at Cairo Scene we can't but feel that the the stunt comes at an awfully convenient time - just before el-Masry is planning to promote her new comedy show on pro-military TV channel, Felool TV.

The first episode is set to poke fun at Nobel laureate Mohammad ElBaradei - an easy target and not likely to have her show axed Bassem Youssef style. However what deep dark Muslim Brotherhood secrets El-Masry intends to expose, we will just have to wait and see. But we can't but support her efforts to bring some good ole fashioned cabaret culture to the parliamentary election campaign. Of course this isn't the first time el-Masry has hit the headlines over her divisive views.
A video, in which the star accuses US President Barack Obama of supporting the Brotherhood, went viral in July last year.
