Dubai Ruler Orders the Removal of Doors from Directors' Offices

Dubai ruler and Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has presented himself as this all-around-nice-statesman-guy, the prince next door who just wants to ride the subway like us normals, but the Emir may have just raised the bar even further for politicians across the world.

Sheikh Mohammed just announced even more reforms, ordering the removal of window glasses from directors’ offices at all departments of the Dubai municipality to make them more accessible, catapulting him to working class hero status.

This move follows an incident last month, shown in the Instagram video below, where Sheikh Mohammed is seen making the rounds of an empty government office during an unscheduled visit on Sunday August 28th, except the Emir seemed less than pleased to find that most senior executives weren’t there. The stunt cost nine senior Dubai officials their jobs. International Business Times quotes Mona Al Marri, director general of the Dubai Media Office, saying: “He [Sheikh Mohammed] certainly wanted to send a message. Timeliness starts at the top and we won’t go after the employees when their bosses aren’t there.”
