At the Karate World Championships, Egypt’s karate team proved their chops by scoring a wealth of medals throughout the competition, which ran from October 24th to October 29th in Budapest, Hungary.

In the Male Kumite -84kg event, Youssef Badawy defended his title as world champion by defeating Mahdi Khodabakhshi of Iran 9-2. Similarly, Abdalla Abdelaziz defeated Hungarian athlete Gabor Harspataki 3-2 to earn the gold medal at the Male Kumite -75kg.

Taha Tarek Mahmoud earned the silver medal after reaching the finals in Male Kumite +84kg, while in the Female Kumite -61kg, Aly Noursin claimed the bronze medal. The Kata Female team claimed a bronze medal, while the Kumite team earned bronze as well.

Within the Para-Karate categories, the World title for the Intellectually Impaired Male K22 was defended by Ahmed Elbeltagy of Egypt who defeated Mattia Alessina of Italy. The gold medal in Wheelchair User Male K30 was claimed by defending champion Abdelaziz Abouelnaga of Egypt.

In the Intellectually Impaired Female K22 competition, Nadin Youssef and Salma Alaaeldin Ebrahim - both hailing from Egypt - clashed for the gold, with defending title holder Ebrahim emerging victorious. Bronze medals were also earned by para-athletes Hazem Muhammad, Mustafa Abu Al-Futouh, Adel Shabab, Marwa Ahmed, and Rawan Khalil.
