Galleria Soul Brings Art to Life in El Gouna

Paintings, films, and acting classes come to life in El Gouna, as Galleria Soul takes a new spin on what it means to bring art to life.

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life” - Pablo Picasso

Well apparently, if you’re in El Gouna, Galleria Soul’s art will wash the sand off your feet as you walk through the doors of this first-of-its-kind art space. Gouna-based artists Reyam ElMolla – focusing on abstract self-portraits, and Noura Labib – exploring the theme of women in her work, launched Galleria Soul this past May, determined to create a space that showcases and features art from all across the spectrum, leaving no type behind.

"This is the first of its kind in El Gouna," ElMolla says. "We wanted to create an art space shows the work of beginners, professionals, and world-renowned artists every month. Then we decided it will be an all-around art space where we can share art in every way we can." So how exactly do you do that? Other than the different exhibitions they host every month by a variety of artists, Galleria Soul also hosts events with poetry recitals, film screenings and discussions, acting classes, and the list will probably keep going. Can we just go ahead and say this place is a piece of art in itself?

What's happening this month at Galleria Soul, you ask? Starting on the 8th of July, the gallery will feature artist Hanan Ghanem’s exhibition all month. Hanan Ghanem is an artist whose “canvas is her own mirror… the journey of all women is reflected in her own journey, one that prevails space, time, and culture,” ElMolla shares.
