Jazz Friday Brunch @ Solana Conrad

To celebrate the launch of their Jazz Friday Brunch, the ever-generous Conrad Cairo Hotel invited us over to sample their brilliant new buffet at the gorgeously chic Solana Restaurant.

To begin with, we were treated to some richly intense coffee, as well as some freshly squeezed apple juice - just one example of their range of fresh juices. But it was when we hit the buffet that the real magic began. Starting with a salad station - which would have sufficed on its own - we worked our way through the ample choices.

Featuring a station especially for some freshly-made Caesar Salad, with the choice of both shrimp and chicken, as well as a whole array of delicious options, from fresh sushi to a wide range of international salads and mezzes, our tastes were pleasantly tickled. There was also an assortment of freshly baked breads that we could have chowed down on forever, with their crisp, perfect outsides and the soft, warm fluffy insides.

We had to avoid gorging ourselves on bread though, because the next stop was the main course. Featuring an array of deliciously cooked specialities from all over the world, we were at no loss for choices. The pumpkin soup had us especially excited - pumpkin soup is a rarity in this country that we had all but given up on prior to this point.

The buffet itself featured everything from perfectly browned, baked potato wedges and vegetables, to Thai chicken curry and grilled kofta (for brunch? don’t mind if we do!) and, what’s that? Adorably cute mini-shawermas? Yes, please. And dessert… where do we begin with the dessert? From chocolatey goodness to fruity fun, there’s a dessert for every taste. Not to mention the chocolate fountain!!!

Overall, it was an intensely satisfying experience, and we were spoiled rotten by the choices and treatment from the good people at Solana.

Jazz Friday Brunches are on every Friday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Solana Restaurant in Conrad Cairo Hotel, accompanied by the Conrad's swinging jazz quartet. There is also a children's corner, where actvities such as face-painting and games with different characters are available.
