One of X-Factor’s Favourite Bands is Performing at the Greek Campus This Friday

Time to get overzealous!

Staff Writer

We grew up obsessed with the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block, but we never really had a boy band in the Arab region – well, except Wama; but let's be honest here, we all know boy bands are supposed to be the hottest thing since sliced bread to you when you're a tween – and they were anything but cool.

The tides seem to be turning as Sony Music Middle East announces a unique collaboration with Clean and Clear, bringing us one grand concert this Friday at Downtown’s Greek Campus, starring the first ever pan-Arab boyband, THE5. THE5 are probably the Blue of the Arab world. They finished second in the fourth series of the hugely popular MBC talent show, The X Factor Arabia in 2015 under the watchful eyes of Elissa and Donia Samir Ghanem. They actually each auditioned as solo candidates, but were told their talents as a collective would prove more powerful. And we're sure every tween who can say "habibi" would agree; watching five cute guys in at the same time is so much better than having to decide who to watch were they separate musicians.

The pop boy band infatuated 4 million regional and international fans on The X Factor and have set pre-teen hearts aflutter with each of their hits ever since. It's really cool to follow a regional artist/band as they grow and start playing in bigger and better places and The5 have been on a steady rise – showing no sign of slowing. The event will feature young Egyptian up-and-coming singer and song-writer, Natalie Saba. Early in 2015 Saba was snapped up by Sony Music Middle East on a multi-year deal to produce her hit single Snow, which is infused with Western urban and Arabic beats and received international resonance, plus over 16,000 views on Youtube within a few days. We’ll be burning calories jumping and dancing around to her blockbusting pop songs.

The event will also feature CARIZMA, an Egyptian/Lebanese girl band known as the 'power girls' after their newest and biggest 2017 hit, Haga Gher. CARIZMA represents a growing generation of young women keen to express themselves creatively and celebrate sisterhood through music. Oh and guess what, all these talented artists will be singing one song together at the end. Wael Mansour will MC the entire event, keeping everyone entertained - we're pretty sure tween hearts are currently exploding with excitement for #Sing4The5.

Invitations are available with Clean and Clear promo package available at Carrefour branches at Abour, Cairo Festival, Maadi, Shrouk, Mall of Egypt, Dandy Mall and Sun City.
