Rise Up Summit 2014

It's back, bigger than ever and bound to inspire. The Rise Up Summit at the GrEEK Campus combines workshops, keynote speeches and invaluable advice from leading business experts for an event design to accomodate every Egyptian entrepreneur...

Promising to be the “the largest gathering for the entrepreneurship ecosystem” in Egypt, Rise Up is back and, naturally, it’s bigger than ever. Those who attended last year’s event in the newly revamped GrEEK Campus will already know that the summit of the region and beyond’s brightest minds, biggest success stories and real, experienced business experts provides invaluable information, advice and inspiration for budding entrepreneurs. Those who didn’t, should pay attention.

Kicking of Sunday 12th October with a welcome party and some words from the founders of the first event of its kind designed to truly support and fuel the ecosystem of which they speak, this year’s summit combines nearly 100 different talks, workshops and panel discussion, lead by experts, as well as providing a much needed platform for local start ups throughout the event at their on-going booths. “Everyone involved is working towards a common goal: to help grow and develop entrepreneurship, innovation and to build a better environment to catalyse this growth. That’s what we do here at the GrEEk Campus, and that’s what we will all continue to do until Cairo becomes the entrepreneurial hub it has the potential to be,” says Ahmed El-Alfi, serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist and founder of GrEEK Campus.

Over the three days, the event will be split up into 12 different tracks, covering all the topics that are critical to any entrepreneur in any industry, from finance and branding to workspaces and mentorship, punctuated by keynote speeches from the likes of Dave McClure, founding partner of 500 Startups and Fadi Ghandour, founder and CEO of Aramex, as well as talks and discussions by some seriously big hitters. You can check out the whole schedule of events here.

“The 2013 event taught us a great deal,” says Abdelhameed Sharara, the visionary founder of Rise Up Summit. “But the most important lesson of all is that achieving success as an entrepreneur is a difficult path that cannot be treaded alone. Every entrepreneur needs a strong team, reliable partners, inspirational mentors and like-minded peers. This is why we’re doing RiseUp again, and will keep doing it. This is a market that is full of innovators and youth eager to find opportunities. Here, we’re inviting them to seize opportunities in an open, inclusive environment.”

Whether you’re an entrepreneur-in-waiting, just launched a business or simply want some insight from some of the most successful people in the region and beyond, Rise Up is the place to be this coming week. Quickly putting Egypt on the map, the whole event is fuelled by those in the know and their passion for making our country the cosmopolitan business hub it could be by fostering and nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit that’s in our blood. You can get your tickets here and stay tuned to CairoScene’s Twitter and Instagram for live updates throughout the three days.
