Ramadan is just around the corner and that means one thing. Actually it means a few things; firstly lots and lots of food, plenty of wholesome fun for all the family and, this year, football. Combining all the best parts of long summer nights that AREN’T on the beach, Events Plus, Event House and Promovision are heading to the sprawling Fairmont Heliopolis and Towers once again this year, bringing back one of our favourite festive destination; Si Omar.

Setting up shop by the Fairmont Heliopolis’ brilliant pool, Si Omar gets the festivities going early this year, with the grand opening scheduled for this Friday 13th June. Coincidentally, that’s the same day Mexico take on Cameroon in the second day of the first group stages at 7pm, while the Netherlands go head to head with Spain for one of the most anticipated World Cup draws at 10pm. And where better to catch the footballing giants in action than in the gorgeous venue that the crew behind this kheima are bound to create? Grab a shisha, munch down on some mezze and kick back as they kick off – all you need to do is choose your team, and it’s a night!

Of course the experience doesn’t stop when Ramadan comes along; quite the contrary. Si Omar is set to come alive this Holy month, ready to repeat the success of years past, when the kheima was on everyone’s to-do list. And rightly so – with three event titans getting together at one of the best hotels in Cairo, expect nothing less than  a 360° luxury experience as they revamp the venue into a gorgeous East meets West destination. The breezy area combines big tables for team and family iftars and sohours and more intimate lounges for small groups and couples. When you’re not watching the matches, indulge in the finest authentic Middle Eastern cuisines whether it’s a four course iftar or a light bite before dawn, their decadent menus are sure to leave you satisified. Open from 7pm for matches (8pm when there are no matches) until 3am, you can while away the eating hours in one of the finest Ramadan spots in Cairo.
