The Nile Ritz-Carlton has all your festive needs sorted.

Christmas is the most wonderful time of year – a chance to spend quality time with family, to eat yourself in to a stupor, and to watch eagerly as your grandmother gets pissed off two glasses of champagne and an over-generous helping of brandy cream on her Christmas pudding. While Christmas seems to be a rather tame affair across much of Cairo, the Nile Ritz-Carlton has put together an exciting calendar of traditional festive events to lead all the family in to the New Year in style.

There will be daily activities from December 23rd 2017 till January 7th 2018:

A thrilling movie schedule of classic Christmas productions will keep the kids occupied during the day from 3 PM until 9 PM – just ask for the location.

The Nile Ritz-Carlton’s Sweet Boutique will have its talented pastry chef cooking up an enormous variety of Christmassy desserts throughout the day, including holiday cookies, ginger bread, and specialty log cakes.

Even more exciting is the magical gingerbread house that will be constructed in the Lobby Lounge. Surrounded by festive giveaways and props to capture special moments, it is sure to grab the kids’ attention.

There will also be additional activities in the run-up to Christmas Day:

From 1-5pm on December 23rd, 24th, and 25th, high tea with a difference will be held in the Lobby Lounge. The whole family will be able to indulge in signature hot chocolate while admiring the delicious chocolate fountain – and if that’s not enough, there will be jingle macaroons, gingersnap cookies, cinnamon biscuits, melt-in-mouth marshmallows, nut toppings, and festive fruits. For this sumptuous chocolatey gathering, prices for adults and children are EGP 175++ and children (6 – 12 years old) get 50 percent off, while little ones (6 years old and under) are complimentary.

Friday December 22nd is where the night-time fun begins, with Christmas Wonderland at NOX. For a minimum charge of EGP 1,100+++ or 850+++ for Bouchon, from 9 PM – 3 AM, guests will be treated to three waves of bar bites, DJ Ghandokly’s pumping tunes, live sax, and a belly dance performance with Maya El Maghraby. All this with a panoramic view of the city? Yes please.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, December 24th and 25th 2017

Come Christmas Eve (24th December), Bab El Sharq and Culina will be hosting an à la carte Middle Eastern dinner. Loved ones can enjoy a cultural dining experience from 8 PM till 2 AM, with belly dance, live singing, and an Oriental band - all with fantastic views of the Egyptian Museum.

Also on Christmas Eve, Vivo will be presenting ‘Vigilia Di Natale’, an intimate Italian evening of fine dining. Italians know how to do Christmas, so it seems particularly fitting to prepare for the big day with a gourmet three-course meal and sparkling wine, accompanied by an opera performance. The evening will be held from 6 PM till 12 PM, and will cost EGP 550+++ for adults, while children (6 to 12 years old) get 50 percent off, and the youngest (6 years old and under) will be complimentary.

On the big day, 25th December, Santa will be parking his sleigh in the Lobby Lounge from 1-5 PM, where he will oversee a smorgasbord of chocolatey delights. Expect a chocolate fountain accompanied by signature hot chocolate, and all the classic festive treats prepared with a twist of luxury. Adults and children will be charged EGP 175++, while children aged between six and twelve will get 50 percent off and those aged six and under go free.

For the much-anticipated Christmas Day meal, both Culina and Vivo will be providing smashing banquets. Culina, open from 1 PM till 5 PM, will be hosting an extended Christmas buffet-style lunch, with carving stations, seafood, signature salads, desserts, and a variety of other Christmas delicacies. Adults will cost EGP 350+++, children (6 – 12 years old) 50 percent off, and children 6 years old and under complimentary – and there will be activities to keep the kids occupied! If Italian is more your thing, Vivo will be hosting ‘Buon Natale’ from 12:30 PM till 6 PM: a collection of new festive specialties with a distinct Italian flavour cooked up by Italian chef Carmine. This adults-only event will cost EGP 450++, and will include champagne and a visit from Santa.

New Year's Eve, December 31st 2017

While the days after Christmas may be justifiably spent lounging on the sofa watching re-runs of classic sitcoms and cursing the amount of food we’ve eaten, it will soon become time to get back in the party spirit and welcome in the New Year. The Nile Ritz-Carlton has certainly got this down, with four events going down on New Year’s Eve (Sunday 31st December) – how do we choose?

The Lobby Lounge and Ritz Bar will be providing cocktails and live entertainment from 10 AM till 1 PM.

Bab El Sharq and Culina will be welcoming 2018 with belly dancers and a luxurious Arabian dinner buffet. Adults can join the party, which extends from 7 PM till 2 AM, for EGP 900+++, which includes one glass of sparkling wine and ‘party favours’ (yes, we are wondering what this entails, too). An unlimited beverage package will be EGP 1,400+++, and kids over 6 years old get 50 percent (6 years old and under go free).

Vivo Ristorante will be setting a whopping five-course menu to romantic opera, and diners can then head to BAR’ORO for cocktails and dancing – sounds provided by DJ Beats. The whole adults-only package will cost EGP 1,000+++ including a glass of sparkling wine and more ‘party favours’, with an option for an unlimited beverage package. The evening will begin at 6 PM and end at 2 AM.

NOX will be taking the celebrations outdoors for some rooftop dining and five rounds of bar bites and desserts, as well as unlimited beer and wine, ‘party favours’, and a star-studded lineup of live performances and DJ tunes, including Mahmoud El Esseily, percussion, a violinist, belly dancer, and DJ. Continuing from 9 PM until 4 AM, this will be the most lavish event at the Nile Ritz-Carlton, so tables must be reserved early! The price is EGP 2,300 all-inclusive, or Bouchon for EGP 850++.

Coptic Christmas, January 7th 2018

Finally, for those who like to celebrate the Coptic Christmas, Culina will be hosting a Christmas Brunch on January 7th 2018, and NOX a Winter Wonderland Party in the evening. Culina will be offering an elaborate, healthy buffet (and sparkling wine) from 1pm ‘til 5pm, which will include steaks, turkey, BBQ, and seafood, alongside salads, eggs, and scrumptious desserts. As well as a kids’ buffet, there will be kids’ activities and live jazz entertainment. Adults pay EGP 650++, children 50 percent off, and those under 6 years old go free.

The NOX Winter Wonderland Party will be closing the Christmas festivities from 7 PM till 3 PM. With five waves of bar bites, unlimited beer and wine, and an array of special performances – all with the best view in Cairo – this will be a kick-ass way to send off the celebrations. The price is EGP 1,750 all-inclusive or Bouchon EGP 850++, with entertainment from DJ Roro, awesome belly dancer Maya El Maghraby, and live violin on top of it all.
