VIDEO: Egyptian Flying Car Stalls On The Ground
Congratulations, everyone; we live in the future! Everything is amazing - we all have tiny supercomputers in our pockets that are connected (24/7) to the consciousness and cumulative knowledge of almost all of humanity; high definition video and audio capture available at the push of a button; and apps! You guys, apps. We’re on the cusp of the greatest period of peace (or World War 3 and scientific enlightenment, or a new dark age) in recorded human history. We have boards that hover - sort of; we could totally send humans to Mars whenever we want, and robots are everywhere. Now, here, under the encouragement of the Egyptian government, a vehicle has been invented that will transform the way the world will get around.
How majestic.

After seven years of work, Ashraf al-Bendary and his team claim to have invented The Egyptian Monster (okay, the name needs work) - a car that can traverse not only the land but through water as well. Not content with just two states of matter, al-Bendary says that the amphibious automobile will also be able to fly through the air! He claims his creation runs on self-sustained energy and has a top speed of 120 kilometres an hour. Amazing! The government allowed al-Bendary to even test drive this beast in Tahrir Square. With a crowd of press and police, he unveiled The Egyptian Monster amid gasps of awe!

Aw, it’s so cute.

Uh, ok. That doesn’t really look like the renderings at all; that thing is like the size of a go-kart. Where are the wings? It turns out it can’t even manage to drive for more than a few minutes. We’ll wait for the second version before we get our hopes up again.
