British Tourism Bookings to Egypt See Substantial Surge

We're getting back up, inch by inch.

British tourists are surging into Egypt, seeing unprecedented numbers in Egyptian tourism for the past few years. According to UK-based newspaper Travel Weekly, Egypt has seen a 51% booking increase from British tourists over the past 12 months.

The report in the British newspaper confirmed that Egypt and Tunisia have the fastest growing number of British travelers; Egypt, along with Tunisia, still has a lot more room for recovery, Travel Weekly said, basing their statistics from booking-analysis websites ForwardKeys and Gfk, which predict tourist trends based on their findings from these websites.

According to the analysis’s verdict, the biggest reason why Egypt was suffering from tourism was because of the emergence of terrorism; in addition, the results also show that “recovery has only recently begun” in regards to Middle Eastern and North African destinations.

“These findings illustrate the ultimate resilience of travel and tourism,” Olivier Jager, CEO of ForwardKeys said.

Travel Weekly said that Egypt and Tunisia still have not been able to attain the same airline capacity levels as they did in 2015; Egypt has 46% of seats available in international airlines from the seats we had three years ago.

Minister of Tourism Rania El Mashat has been working on a range of activities and projects to boost Egyptian tourism. Egypt should be seeing many Europeans roaming the streets soon, as French tourists are beginning to choose Egypt as their holiday destination once more.
