3 Egyptians Arrested in Kuwait for Stealing Sensitive Data of Around 2 Million Citizens

Three Egyptians in Kuwait have been arrested for stealing the data of around 2 million citizens, according to Kuwait’s Al Rai Newspaper.

This is how it went down – as the General Department for Criminal Evidences in Kuwait received information about this data theft, they begun investigations and sent an undercover agent to deal with it.

The agent made a deal with the Egyptian, agreeing to buy the data, which contains Kuwaiti citizens’ home and work addresses, as well as phone numbers for 200 KD (nearly EGP 12,000). He was arrested as he was handing over the flash drive, which contained the details of 1.8 million Kuwaiti citizens. He then admitted obtaining the data from another Egyptian who works in a sensitive position at the Ministry of Interior. The information contained in the flash drive is said to be extremely confidential.

After they arrested the con-man, he admitted to also selling the sensitive information to another man, also Egyptian, who was eventually arrested at Kuwait International Airport as he was plotting his escape. 

Just how long these guys will be locked up for hasn’t been stated, but it’s not looking good for our three compatriots.
