Dubbed the ‘Green River,’ a 35KM Nile-Style waterway is being built in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, 60KM East of Cairo. Already approved by Prime Minister, Mustafa Madbouli, the latest addition to the mega-project is set for completion by mid-2020, according to Gulf News.

With the first stage estimated to cost $500 million, the river is designed to run through the centre, linking the different quarters of the city, as well as recycle its water. It is set to be fed with treated water and be adorned with a 10KM botanical garden.

Other recent announcements concerning the new capital include plans for an electric train project linking it to Cairo, as well as an opera house that is set to be the biggest in the Middle East.
