Mercedes-Benz in Talks to Open Assembly Plant in Egypt

A statement by Mercedes Benz has revealed that the German automobile manufacturer has held preliminary talks with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly about building an assembly plant in Egypt, according to Borneo Bulletin.

Describing the encounter as a ‘successful discussion’, Mercedes board member, Markus Schaefer, also said that Egypt offers “an attractive and competitive location for production and supporting logistics.”

Schaefer has also promised that the company’s presence will benefit Egypt in terms of its expertise in modern mobility, electric cars and autonomous driving, which it says can be of great use with infrastructure projects in the New Administrative Capital.
