The North Coast's The Greek Reopens in Diplo as Yanni's

Formerly known as The Greek in Maadi and Sidi Abdelrahman, Yanni's, a charming Greek taverna, reopens its doors in Diplo, inviting you to immerse yourself in the essence of true Greek hospitality.

Chef John Benkanis, born to Greek parents in Egypt, fulfills his lifelong dream of establishing an authentic Greek restaurant. "After exploring Greece and the Mediterranean for a long time, I found inspiration in coastal towns and their cuisine," Benakis shares with Scene Eats. "The relaxed ambiance of the North Coast reminds me of Greece, so I decided to bring my heritage here."

Benkanis pays homage to his roots while infusing local flavors. "Greek and Egyptian cuisines share Ottoman influences, so blending them together felt natural. However, I import key ingredients to ensure authenticity." Signature dishes like Arnaki Kleftiko, a leg of lamb marinated in garlic and herbs, slow-cooked for eight hours, exemplify this fusion. Another standout offering is the salt-crusted sea bass, featuring fresh seafood enveloped in herb-infused salt.
Yanni's offers more than just a meal—it delivers an experience. The rustic-chic decor evokes the ambiance of Greek islands, and live music on weekends transports guests further into the Greek atmosphere. "The restaurant is designed to be inviting and authentic, reminiscent of home," adds Benakis.

Whether savoring meze, moussaka, or Mediterranean fusion creations, guests at Yanni's find nourishment not only for their palates but also for their souls. Long, leisurely meals accompanied by heartfelt conversations create connections and evoke a sense of living life as it was meant to be—unhurried, surrounded by love, laughter, and authentic cuisine.

Located on the shores of Diplo in the North Coast, Yanni's extends an invitation to embrace this way of life, if only for an evening. Yet, the memories, like the lingering glow of Yanni's, endure. If you seek an authentic Greek dining experience that transports you to the Mediterranean's other side, make your way to Yanni's in the North Coast's Diplo this summer—and don't forget to exclaim 'Opa!' as you enter. We're confident they will appreciate the enthusiasm.
