Commemorate World Down's Syndrome Day With Zayee Zayak At Darb 1718

Looking to advance the level of social acceptance for those with the disability, Zayee Zayak is taking over Darb 1718 in honour of World Down's Syndrome Day.

As part of World Down's Syndrome day, NGO Zayee Zayak is hosting a celebration at Darb 1718. A day full of activities to promote awareness and social inclusion for those affected by the disability, this Saturday, the entire street leading up to Darb 1718 will be shut down for the festivities.

Activities include family-friendly entertainment like magicians, clowns, flag painting, and a Zumba class for kids by Salma Afifi . Music will also be a big part of the day, with a flash mob from the Zayee Zayak kids, Hip Hop dancing from Mx Crew and Mr. Love courtesy of Rasha Majdi, and a performance from the Rock and Lol Band to wrap up the night. You’ll also have the chance to hear from Rahma and Dina, two women who've proven that Down's Syndrome needn't be a hindrance on success. Dina will also perform a piece of music.

With potentially 2285 Down's Syndrome births in Egypt annually, a lot still needs to be done to promote social inclusion, awareness, and advocacy for those with the disability to prevent them being ostracised from their families and communities.

The event is free, and registration starts at 12 PM. Check out the event page and Darb 1718 on Facebook.
