Every year amazing jazz musicians from all over the world descend on Cairo for the annual Cairo Jazz Festival. However, for jazz aficionados, the best chance to get up close and personal to the musical cream of the crop invading Cairo is by heading to the Beyond Stage event at the Cairo Jazz Club on October 20th to 23rd.
The beloved Cairo Jazz Festival returns for their eighth installment packing a lineup of jazz sensations from all across the planet from October 20th -22nd. Tapping into this annual happening is none other than the Cairo Jazz Club, who will be bringing in the absolute favourite picks from the festival and featuring them at their Beyond Stage event starting from the 20th- 23rd.
The Beyond Stage jazz celebration kicks of this Thursday, featuring not one but three internationally acclaimed outfits. Opening the jam-packed lineup are the smooth bossa nova stylings and string arrangements of Tara Fuki. Following this European musical star is an equally impressive jazz sensation from Japan, Yano Saori, who will be giving the night a brassy boost with her insane sax playing. Closing out this night in a big way is none other than the massive jazz collective known as the Big Band Society, who will be looking to cram more musicians on the Cairo Jazz Club stage than previously thought possible.
Continuing the musical momentum into Friday, CJC will be aiming their spotlight on some of the brightest techno-savvy DJs in Egypt, including The Meteors Project, Burdizo, Gaser, and Richard R. This night of heavy hitting DJs will have you losing control of your limbs as you involuntarily dance the night way.
For the third night of this jazz filled expedition, the CJC will be tapping into local talents and will be welcoming the beloved Hassan Ramzy band for their funk and soul explosion. Following these local heroes will be Bahraini singing sensation Ala Ghawas & Likwid, who will also be delivering the hits closing night in a funk explosion that will have everyone bouncing off the walls.
What better way to close out this unique series of jazz happenings than with a closing jam session followed by a tribute to the rock gods who continue to inspire generations: The Rolling Stones. The tribute to this iconic group will have you sympathising with the devil while attempting to give your ears the musical satisfaction they deserve.
This annual happening is among Cairo Jazz Club’s biggest events and will give all its patrons the opportunity to take in all the stars set to shine at the Cairo Jazz Festival, but in a more intimate and immediate setting that will memorable for all fans of music.
