The 2015 Cairo Jazz Festival is Back This October

The Cairo International Jazz Festival is back this autumn for its seventh edition this time held at The Greek Campus in Downtown Cairo. The three-day festival will be taking place from the 15th to the 18th of October, 2015 and will host  artists from 13 countries, as well as Egyptian-based bands and musicians, from the ideologically driven to the politically charged top World, Fusion, Contemporary and Oriental jazz acts.

One of the most prominent and anticipated cultural events in the country, The Cairo International Jazz fest, established in 2009 by producer/composer Amro Salah, is known for accommodating some of the most renowned international talents such as Gilberto Gil, Carles Benavent and Han Bennink as well as supporting uprising and skilled musicians in the local jazz community. Some of this year’s highlights will include Algerian singer/songwriter and guitarist Souad Massi, Classical Arabic/Fusion musician Rima Khchiech and 24-piece Danish Orchestra Blood Swear Drum ‘n’ Bass, featuring distinguished Oud player Naseer Shamma.

CJF, in collaboration with the Jazz Society of Egypt, is a non-profit music organisation dedicated to the growth and continuation of the evolutionary sounds that sprout from Jazz music. The forgotten genre is certainly alive, kickin' and swingin' with both foundations in top form, imbuing Cairo with first hand experience of jazz culture and musical knowledge by promoting young musicians and introducing international talent, all the while holding master classes and workshops introducing the art and soul of Jazz to musical intellectuals and budding artists alike.

The outstanding quality of participating musicians of all ages with a shared vigorous passion for Jazz music, along with the hard-driven and astounding effort put into the festival can guarantee its ongoing success, with artists not to be missed this year.
