The Fashion Studio is a collective of industry professionals, offering a series of courses that allow students to build industry-grade portfolios as well as giving them the opportunity to showcase and feature their work to a variety of brands, blogs and magazines. All courses apply efficient methods to organizing research, sourcing visual information, and ultimately preparing students for future employment and academic opportunities in the creative world.
It's the only collective in Cairo that offers a practical, hands-on experience in the field of fashion. All courses are tailored to outlines similar to those at top international fashion schools. The Fashion Studio is well aware of the quality of portfolios required by such institutions, and aids students in compiling their material within that standard. Course fees are substantially less than other similar workshops offered, as the collective’s primary goal is to educate and expand into a quality network of professionals spanning all creative fields.
The Fashion Studio is a collaboration between the collective and Amuse Lifestyle Concept store. With classes taking place in Amuse’s gallery space, students are given the chance to learn in a real-life fashion and creative environment.
COURSE OPTIONS: FASHION STYLING
Fashion Stylists are the story-tellers, and directors behind some of the industry's most powerful images and brands. Find your personal style and perfect your aesthetic in a course that focuses on catwalk and editorial styling, as well current trends in street-style and on the blogosphere.The course touches on trend forecasting, brand identity and fashion history. Students will be taught research methods and create visual aids, moodboards, and photoshoots to put towards their books. Learn the industry method to sourcing and organizing your research, and finally finish the course by curating your portfolio.
At the end of each course, students are given the opportunity to create and shoot campaigns for brands, blogs and magazines.

This practical course in Fashion Photography is a hands-on experience, where students learn the technical skills of photography and apply them to shoot high-fashion editorials and images. Students will experience location and studio shooting in a state of the art facility and will be encouraged to develop their own stylistic take on fashion photography.

Any idea, fashion or otherwise, begins with a blank piece of paper. Through illustration and various other techniques, you’ll get an idea of how to make sense of your ideas. Through illustrations you’ll acquire the correct editing and evaluating skills; key tools in any kind of creative process. Students will fine tune their skills in drawing as to have the space to create. We’ll discuss in depth how to edit down an idea with an eraser; or spruce something up with one perfect final scribble. The course will consist of basic drawing skills, in form and line, fashion figures, colour and texture. We will also cover collage making, mood boards and product illustrations to finally create a collection/portfolio. The point of this course is not to become a master artist, but to acquire the skills needed to get your vision across.

The Fashion Business and Retail course is a comprehensive introduction into the modern fashion business environment and its structure. Explore the serious side of the fashion cycle, starting with the process from design to production, while learning about the start-up and creation of a fashion label. Discover the importance of retail buying and range planning, as well as marketing & PR in a global context. The course touches on subjects such as fashion buying and product development, and shows students how retailers develop their collections. The course also focuses on the importance of fashion strategic marketing, influenced by the consumer's psychology.
At the end of each course, students will have put theory to practice by developing their own fashion business model.

The relationship between Fashion and Media is cyclical one. Pop culture has made fashion what it is today in turn, Fashion has provided subcultures and fans with timeless images from their favorite movies, artists and bands.
This course was developed to analyze the intimate relationship between fashion and media, exploring the effect of cult movies and music on global fashion throughout the decades. This retrospective provides a fascinating study into the trends offset by the most iconic films of all time while exploring punk, rock & roll, grunge, hip-hop, indie and pop genres and their aesthetic contribution to all fields across the fashion spectrum.
