It's about time someone came along to educate our people that turning Ramadan tents into dresses and putting Egyptian flags on EVERYTHING is. not. fashion. Without further notice we introduce TFS...

The Fashion Studio is a collective of industry professionals, offering a series of courses that allow students to build industry-grade portfolios as well as giving them the opportunity to showcase and feature their work to a variety of brands, blogs and magazines. All courses apply efficient methods to organizing research, sourcing visual information, and ultimately preparing students for future employment and academic opportunities in the creative world.

It's the only collective in Cairo that offers a practical, hands-on experience in the field of fashion. All courses are tailored to outlines similar to those at top international fashion schools. The Fashion Studio is well aware of the quality of portfolios required by such institutions, and aids students in compiling their material within that standard. Course fees are substantially less than other similar workshops offered, as the collective’s primary goal is to educate and expand into a quality network of professionals spanning all creative fields.

The Fashion Studio is a collaboration between the collective and Amuse Lifestyle Concept store. With classes taking place in Amuse’s gallery space, students are given the chance to learn in a real-life fashion and creative environment.

FASHION ILLUSTRATION

Any idea, fashion or otherwise, begins with a blank piece of paper. Through illustration and various other techniques, you’ll get an idea of how to make sense of your ideas. Through illustrations you’ll acquire the correct editing and evaluating skills; key tools in any kind of creative process. Students will fine tune their skills in drawing as to have the space to create. We’ll discuss in depth how to edit down an idea with an eraser; or spruce something up with one perfect final scribble. The course will consist of basic drawing skills, in form and line, fashion figures, colour and texture. We will also cover collage making, mood boards and product illustrations to finally create a collection/portfolio. The point of this course is not to become a master artist, but to acquire the skills needed to get your vision across.

Duration: 1 MONTH/8 CLASSES
Fees: 1500 EGP

FASHION MEDIA

Lolita wore heart-shaped sunglasses in the 60's, Bladerunner changed the future in the 70's, American Gigolo helped put Giorgio Armani on the menswear map in the 80's, and Clueless taught the world that Alaia is "like a totally important designer" in the 90's.  Bowie was Ziggy Stardust, The Sex Pistols got their name from Vivienne Westwood's King's Road boutique, and most recently, Lady Gaga made Margiela retire.

The relationship between Fashion and Media is cyclical one.  Pop culture has made fashion what it is today in turn, Fashion has provided subcultures and fans with timeless images from their favorite movies, artists and bands.

This course was developed to analyze the intimate relationship between fashion and media, exploring the effect of cult movies and music on global fashion throughout the decades. This retrospective provides a fascinating study into the trends offset by the most iconic films of all time while exploring punk, rock & roll, grunge, hip-hop, indie and pop genres and their aesthetic contribution to all fields across the fashion spectrum.

Create mood-boards, short films, mixed-media collages and album artwork to put towards your portfolio.

Duration: 1 MONTH/8 CLASSES
Fees: 1500 EGP
