Acclaimed Egyptian Film ‘19B’ Returns for One Week at Zawya Cinema

After hitting cinemas on May 31st, acclaimed Egyptian film ‘19B’ returns to the big screen for one week at Downtown Cairo’s Zawya Cinema from July 12th to the 18th.

The award-winning feature follows the story of an unnamed doorman who lives in an abandoned villa. As the villa deteriorates, the doorman attempts to hold on to his home while the power dynamics of the ever-changing city crosses boundaries and starts to affect his inner world.

The film is directed by Ahmed Abdallah, known for his diverse filmography which includes 'Heliopolis' (2009), 'Microphone' (2010), 'Decor' (2014), and 'Exterior/Night' (2018). The cast features Sayed Ragab as the doorman, Ahmed Khaled and Nahed El Sebaie, alongside with slew of stray animals who were later fostered by the crew.

The film made its world premiere at the 44th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival, scoring the Best Arab Film Award, the Henry Barakat Award for cinematographer Mostafa El Kashef, and the FIPRESCI award.
