'Akher El Mo'gezat' to Open 7th Edition of El Gouna Film Festival
The 20-minute drama is inspired by a short story by Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz.
Egyptian-Sudanese short film 'Akher El Mo'gezat', directed by Abdel Wahab Shawky, will open the 7th edition of El Gouna Film Festival, set to take place from October 24th to November 1st.
The 20-minute drama - inspired by a short story by Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz - follows Yahya, a 40-year-old obituary editor, who embarks on an unexpected spiritual journey after receiving a mysterious phone call from a deceased Sufi sheikh. What starts as an attempt to make amends for a professional mistake after misspelling the sheikh’s name becomes a deeper exploration of faith and fate.
The film stars Khaled Kamal, Ahmed Siyam and Abed Anani, with a guest appearance by Ghada Adel. The production was written by Abdel Wahab Shawky and Mark Lotfy, and produced by Amgad Abu Alala, Mark Lotfy, Bahu Bakhsh and Adel Abdullah.
