Egyptian actress Amina Khalil (aka Nadine) has become the main character in every family’s post-iftar ‘discourse’, as audiences have grown to both love and hate her latest character in the emotionally tumultuous Ramadan mini-series, ‘El Harsha El Sabaa’.
Inspiring Twitter threads and strong opinions, Khalil’s character, Nadine, depicts the strife of Egyptian mothers, without falling into the perfect victim archetype trap. Leaving audiences torn between empathizing with her or deeming her ‘dramatic’ or ‘too much’, which was the actress’s intention all along.
With her co-star, friend, and on-screen husband Mohamed Shahin (Adam), the duo immerses viewers in a journey of love, loss and grief throughout the series’s fifteen episodes, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Karim El Shennawy and written by award-winning scriptwriter Mariam Naoum.
