Artists to Receive Financial Support Through Social Care Programmes
The government is currently reviewing a system to support artists through the National Authority of Social Insurance.

President Abdelfattah El-Sisi has called for more extensive social support for Egyptian artists, with improved pensions provided to members of different art unions.
The government is currently reviewing a system to support artists through the National Authority of Social Insurance. Moving forward, the Egyptian government is set to revise its database of artists in order to include them in its insurance and social care programmes whilst reforming legislation to guarantee better social support for artists.
As Egypt’s art scene continues to blossom with a number of programmes and initiatives - including Art D’Egypte’s Cairo International Art District (CIAD) currently taking over seven historic sites across Cairo’s Downtown - the recent presidential announcement is hoped to result in increased financial security for the drivers behind the country’s contemporary art culture.
