Egyptian actress Yasmina El-Abd is starring in a new HBO Max show, 'Theodosia', an action-adventure based on the critically acclaimed book series by Robin L. LaFevers that's premiering on March 10th.

Set in 1906, the series is about a supernaturally gifted 14-year-old girl named Theodosia Throckmorton (played by Eloise Little, who you might recognise from 'His Dark Materials'), the daughter of two prestigious Egyptologists who lives in Edwardian London's Museum of Legends and Antiquities. With her younger brother Henry (played by Frankie Minchella), and her best friends Will (as played by Nana Agyeman-Bediako) and Princess Safiya (played by Yasmina El-Abd), they must navigate the chaos that comes with teenage life and school, all while dealing with Ancient Egyptian magic and a secret society that's hellbent on abusing it to destroy the world. You know, typical teenager stuff.

El-Abd previously played a heroic little girl in the short film ‘The Shadow of Cairo’, before appearing in the 2021 film ‘Daughters of Abdul-Rahman’. She’s also in the newly-released Netflix original ‘Finding Ola’, where she plays the part of Zeina.

The series is produced by Cottonwood Media, the same people behind the popular time travel series 'Find Me in Paris'. There might be less ballet dancing in 'Theodosia', but we can expect to see plenty of old-timey costumes and teenage shenanigans.
