Sameh Alaa, director and winner of the Palme d'Or for short film at the Cannes Film Festival 2020 for 'I Am Afraid to Forget Your Face', has been added to the Canes Film Festival jury for Cannes 2021.
Egyptian director, producer, and writer Sameh Alaa has been selected to be a part of the Cannes Film Festival jury and selection team for the short films category and Cinéfondation 2021.
Based between Cairo and Brussels, Alaa was the director behind ‘I Am Afraid to Forget Your Face’, which won the Palme d’Or award for short film at the Cannes Film Festival in 2020. The Palme d’Or is the highest award at the Cannes Film Festival, and Alaa is now in the position to pass that honour to one of 10 films up for consideration, which have been picked out of a pool of 3,739 candidates. Alaa will also have the privilege of distributing three Cinefondation prizes for film school students.
