"She took the driver's seat, to make ends meet," reads the tagline for Tuk-Tuk, a film by Mohamed Kheidr. Starring Elham Wagdi as Walaa, a woman who was abandoned by her husband and is forced to take a career in driving a tuk-tuk to support her family, the script explores the ways in which women must act in a male-dominated environment, enduring their doubts, ridicule and discrimination while they work to make ends meet. And it will soon have the honour of representing Egypt at the Pan African Film Festival.

Based in Los Angeles, the 29th edition of the Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) continues its prestigious tradition of showcasing over 100 films a year to bring African culture and identity to the forefront, whether you are African by descent or by citizenship. The PAFF will begin on February 28th, an annual staple of the United State's celebration of Black History Month.

That’s not the only major film festival in which Tuk-Tuk will be featured. The Egyptian production will also be shown at the Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival in France, which will run from January 29th to February 6th.
