Tamino Amir: Egyptian Legend Muharram Fouad’s Grandson is Europe’s Next Big Indie Musican

Surrounded by the legacy of his grandfather – legendary Egyptian musician, Muharram Fouad – it was almost inevitable that @TaminoAmir would find himself following in the footsteps of the man dubbed ‘The Sound of the Nile’. The indie musician, whose roots lay in Egypt, Lebanon and Belgium, is considered one of the hottest acts in Europe, following the release of 2018 debut album ‘Amir’, which has seen fans and publications (including the BBC, the Guardian and the Independent) draw comparisons between him and the likes of Jeff Buckley and Muse frontman, Matt Bellamy, thanks to his distinct voice and vocal range.

Infusing plenty of Middle Eastern influence into his brand of indie/alt-rock, the 23 year-old has also begun to build a reputation in in North America, where he is signed to one of Canada’s biggest record labels, Arts & Crafts, which was founded by members of award-winning Canadian super-group, Broken Social Scene. He even got Radiohead lead guitarist and keyboardist, Jonny Greenwood, to feature on his album, fronted Missoni’s SS19 campaign alongside Gisele Bündchen and was featured on the cover of Vogue Hommes earlier this year.
