Egyptian Writer Taha Hussein Honoured at Abu Dhabi Intl Book Fair

The 31st edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair in May will honour legendary Egyptian writer Taha Hussein. 

This year, the fair is putting the Arabic language on a pedestal thanks to efforts of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center. Taha Hussein was a pivotal figure not only in the development of Arabic literature but the evolution of Arabic as language of science, knowledge and creativity.

Hussein’s works contributed greatly to the transfer of Egyptian culture and Arab identity over the decades and continue to inspire coming generations of authors in the region.

The icon will see his work celebrated between Cairo and Abu Dhabi in the months leading up to the event with plans to publish studies and research dedicated to his legacy, his biography, new paperback editions, audiobooks of his work and electronic and photo publications in cooperation with Arab publishers.
