Iconic Opera 'Carmen' Set for Special Run at Bibliotheca Alexandrina

Following a passionate tale of love and tragedy 'Carmen' be performed at Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s Great Hall in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Alexandria on November 26th and November 27th.

Lauded as one of the greatest operas of all time, the French opera ‘Carmen’ is coming to Alexandria, where it will be performed at Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s Great Hall in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Alexandria on November 26th and November 27th.


Known for such famous operatic arias as ‘Habanera’ and ‘Toreador Song’, ‘Carmen’ follows a tale of sensuality, passion and violence when a Spanish soldier falls in love with a fiery gypsy woman. Directed by Mauel Schmitt and designed by Bernhard Siegl, this special performance interweaves an international cast of professional soloists with young Alexandrian talents from the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Choir, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Children Choir and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Nayer Nagui.
