The Nobel laureate’s writings will be electronically published through Hindawi, a non-profit foundation that looks to digitally preserve the most culturally significant books in the Arab world.

Cairo Scene

You will soon be able to read all the classic works of Naguib Mafouz as ebooks! The full collection of the Nobel laureate’s writings will be electronically published through Hindawi, a non-profit foundation that looks to digitally preserve the most culturally significant books in the Arab world.

Since Mahfouz’s contract with Al-Shorouk Library will expire in the first half of 2022, his daughter, Umm Kulthum, has been able to give Hindawi the rights to his works to make them available for free online viewing through hindawi.org, allowing all readers access to a backlog of some of Egypt’s most famously down-to-earth depictions of the people of Cairo, from the streets of Palace Walk to the corner of Midaq Alley.
