The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat - which first made global headlines with the Pharaohs' Golden Parade last year - drew in quite a crowd during the Aid al-Adha holidays.

During Eid al-Adha, many chose the cultural route by visiting Cairo’s many museums and archaeological sites, with over 25,000 people visiting the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation in Fustat.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization first made international headlines in April 2021 as the final destination of the Pharaohs’ Golden Parade, which carried the remains of Ancient Egypt’s most storied kings and queens in a majestic procession. The museum has been gradually expanding its collection since then. This year, they’ve incentivised their visitors to come over during Eid al-Adha by allowing them to take pictures inside the museum.

Naturally, Egypt’s more established archaeological destinations more than pulled their weight during the holiday season, with 70,000 people visiting the Great Giza Pyramids, 20,000 Egyptian and foreign visitors checking out the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, and thousands more seeing such sites as the Cairo Citadel.
