Port Said Bird-Watching Festival Takes Flight

Oh you’re going to want to *tweet* about this. Spearheaded by the Egyptian Society of Wildlife Photographers, the Egyptian Society for Nature Conservation and the Ashtoum Al-Jameel Reserve, The Port Said International Festival for Bird Watching & Photography is offering a free open invitation to nature lovers and photographers of all kinds to snap pictures of the picturesque Ashtoum El-Gamil Reserve.

Under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the governorate of Port Said, the cleverly named ‘Bird Said’ initiative aims to promote tourism in the famed Egyptian port city, and its largest natural water lake in Egypt, Lake Manzala, where more than 200 species of local and migratory birds were recorded, and more than 500 thousand birds were monitored including flamingos, pelicans, wading birds, egrets, starlings, quails, gulls, and storks.

The feathered-festival is in full (s)wing until Tuesday, December 5th.
