‘The Furnace’, the highly acclaimed Australian film starring Egypt’s very own Ahmed Malek, is now available on Netflix. The film serves as Malek’s international debut, and explore a forgotten corner of the 19th century west Australian gold rush, when Muslim and Sikh camel handlers from India, Afghanistan and Iran were brought in by British colonisers as indentured labourers.
‘The Furnace’ premiered at the 77th Venice Film Festival where it was nominated for the Best Film Award, and was shown at El Gouna Film Festival's Feature Narrative Competition in 2020.
