Three Egyptian Authors in the Running for Sheikh Zayed Book Award

The Emirates-based Sheikh Zayed Book Award has announced its shortlists for three of its categories. Nine titles have been chosen from across the Arab world, and a full third of them are Egyptian.
On the Literature shortlist is ‘The Passengers Hall’ by Ezzat El-Kamhawi, alongside ‘In the Footsteps of Enayat Al-Zayyat’ by Iman Mersal.
On the Young Author shortlist is ‘Yalda Night’ by Ghada Al-Absi, which was published in 2018.
The Sheikh Zayed Book Awards received more submissions this year than ever before in its history, with a total of 2,349 books across its nine categories. Each of the winners will receive a gold medal and a prize of AED750,000.
